Sculptor and painter Simone Fattal builds traces that mark the routing of her personal life journey. Her favourite sculpting material – clay – is chosen for its ability to be shaped by hand, unlike bronze, which is also used but doesn’t quite feel as close. Seemingly unfinished, her art bears, in fact, the signs of the artist making it. Influence from ancient art is apparent in sculptures and drawings by Fattal, who nurtured her interest in archaeology as she grew up in the Near East.
