Transgender activist, director, and author, she works as a queer community activist, fighting to turn obtuse vision and rigid rules on the concept of identity. Many of her films are dreamlike portraits of personalities who had to fight hard to have their identities recognised, both from the point of view of personal relationships and of society at large. Tourmaline’s art broadens its vision to the sphere of rights beyond that of the trans community, which is just the tip of a large, composite iceberg floating in a sea of countless identities, each fighting for the freedom to exist and express themselves.
