Set in the 1950s and 1960s, a log cabin in upstate New York was home to a clandestine transvestite network – an essential role in the affirmation of trans identity. The film renders the flurry of colours and sounds that populated its rooms thanks to stories told by Diane and Kate, once members of the group and today, two elderly ladies speaking to the camera.
Sébastien Lifshitz (1968) entered the world of cinema after a BA programme in art history at the École du Louvre. He released his first feature film, Presque rien, in 2000, which was very well received by the critic. His later production includes Wilde Side (2004) and Bambi (2016) – both awarded at Berlin.
