For the first time in Venice, the Cappella Musicale Pontifica Sistina will be the protagonist of an evocative concert in St Mark’s Basilica, promoted by the Fondazione Teatro La Fenice in collaboration with the Procuratoria di San Marco on the occasion of the jubilee year and the 500th anniversary of the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. The event, scheduled for Monday 24 March 2025 at 8 p.m., will feature the prestigious choral ensemble responsible for the musical service in the liturgical celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff, under the musical direction of Marcos Pavan and with Michele Marinelli as Pueri Cantores maestro, together with the Brass Ensemble of the Teatro La Fenice. The musical programme will combine the music of Palestrina with pages by Giovanni and Andrea Gabrieli. Admission to the concert is reserved for U round subscribers of the 2024-2025 Symphonic Season of the Fondazione Teatro La Fenice.
