The Chamber Ensemble of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala performs music by Fauré and Boëllmann. The collaboration between the Accademia Teatro alla Scala and the Palazzetto Bru Zane continues. After devoting themselves to the mélodies and opera arias of Jules Massenet, the quartets of César Franck and the vocal creations of the Prix de Rome winners, this season the students of the Accademia will study the piano quartets of Gabriel Fauré and his heirs. A special place will be reserved for the composer Léon Boëllmann (1862-1897), who followed the same path as Fauré, studying at the École Niedermeyer and pursuing a career as an organist. Indeed, it is not necessary to have attended a master’s class to follow in his footsteps: the similarities between Fauré’s piano quartets (1880 and 1886) and those of Boëllmann (1887) are proof of this.
