Raquel Kurpershoek, born in 1998 in Amsterdam and raised between the Netherlands and Spain, is a leading figure in European world music. Her artistic journey is a fusion of music, cultural diversity and commitment to inclusivity, as evidenced by her volunteer work with the elderly, disabled, refugees and the deaf. From a young age, her heart has found rhythm in music, exploring pop and jazz, and earning prestigious awards such as the Princess Christina Concours and the Zoetermeer Jazz Prize in 2016. With a degree in World Music from the Rotterdam Conservatory and an immersion in flamenco in Córdoba, Raquel has developed a unique repertoire. Her debut EP, ‘Mil Cosas’ from 2021, and the album ‘Nizami’ from 2022 are testimonies of her musical journey. “Nizami”, inspired by the works of the medieval Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi, tells stories through various musical styles, creating an intimate and poetic atmosphere.
