The exhibition, curated by Marianne Mathieu and Geraldine Lefebvre, marks the first time that the André Malraux Museum of Modern Art (MuMa) in Le Havre has lent part of its prestigious collection of Impressionist paintings, the most significant in France outside Paris. The exhibition commemorates the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and features 52 masterpieces by artists such as Renoir, Monet, Sisley, Gauguin, and Boudin, which miraculously survived the bombings of 1944. The event symbolizes the bond between Le Havre and Mestre, both marked by war, highlighting the role of art in cultural resilience and renewal. A documentary section delves into the bombing of Mestre on March 28, 1944, and the subsequent process of urban and industrial reconstruction.
