At the suggestion of Biennale secretary-general Antonio Fradeletto, Giulio Aristide Sartorio (1860-1932) accepted the commission to create a large decorative art cycle to be placed in the Central Hall of the 1907 International Exhibition. He was tasked with illustrating, based on ancient mythology, the Poema della vita umana, an intensely dramatic vision of existence. The exhibition reconstructs the complex history of the work around the restored art through archive documents and a selection of art exhibited at the Biennales in those years and now part of the Ca’ Pesaro collection.
