At the centre of John Robinson’s exhibition is a “shed” from his home garden, which he turned into a nomadic space of memory and metamorphosis. This modest wooden structure is the stage for a series of intimate and cathartic performances staged during the exhibition’s opening days: a reenactment of the artist’s childhood birthday party and a tarot card reading with unique cards created by Robinson himself. Anyone participating in the performances will be a subject in a painting created by the artist in a live painting session and an integral part of the work itself, blurring the boundaries between art, memory, and documentation.
