The first major international exhibition of landscape architect Jung Youngsun (b. 1941) traces the development of her practice, from her early activism to ambitious state-sponsored projects like those for the Seoul Olympics and the Incheon International Airport. Her work has fostered new sensitivity around the idea of restoring and creating green spaces, both in urban contexts and in various other public and private settings. Jung focuses on design that serves not only nature but communities, too, and one that creates resilient and sustainable havens for socialization, contemplation and meditation. The architect incorporates living materials into her projects, favoring native species that highlight “the beauty of emptiness.”
