In line with the theme of the 19th International Architecture Exhibition, which celebrates the diverse facets of intelligence – including artificial intelligence – Mattia Moreni’s art finds its ideal setting at ACP – Palazzo Franchetti by Fondazione Calarota. Housed in the evocative spaces of the Second Noble Floor, the exhibition, curated by Roberta Perazzini Calarota, offers a selection of over 30 works, many of which have a powerful visual impact.
The exhibition retraces Moreni’s relentless artistic exploration, from his early cubist experiments of the 1950s, through the vibrant energy of the Informal movement and the celebrated “Angurie” series – which marked his solo room at the Venice Biennale in 1972 – to his most recent phase, dedicated to the “Humanoids”. Since the 1980s, the artist has explored, with profound clarity, the influence of technology and computing – then known as electronics – on both daily life and artistic production. His work indeed anticipates today’s debates on artificial intelligence, confirming his pioneering role in innovation.
This creative journey cements Moreni’s status as a true precursor, capable of intuiting with remarkable acuity the directions society would take in the decades that immediately followed.
