Il latte dei sogni
Seven centuries of vision, style, and ingenuity. The Lens of Time – The History of Eyewear in Italy traces the evolution of eyeglasses from their earliest forms in the 13th century to the latest innovations in contemporary design, through an immersive exhibition at Palazzo Flangini, the Venetian headquarters of Fondazione di Venezia, along the Strada Nova.
Promoted by ANFAO and curated by the Fondazione Museo dell’Occhiale, the exhibition is supported by Fondazione di Venezia and M9 – Museo del ’900, partners of the project. Visitors are invited on a fascinating journey through more than 150 historical pieces, posters, everyday objects, and archival materials from the collections of the Museo dell’Occhiale in Pieve di Cadore, the Vascellari collection, and the Arte del Vedere Archive of Lucio Stramare. Twelve thematic sections guide the visitor through historical, technical, and cultural milestones: from 18th-century Venetian green-lens spectacles to industrial models of the postwar economic boom, up to today’s smart glasses.
Enriching the itinerary are two newly commissioned works by artist Maurizio Paccagnella, created from reclaimed materials and conceived as a symbolic reflection on the deep ties between Venice, the Cadore region, and Italy’s longstanding excellence in eyewear craftsmanship.
The exhibition, part of the official program of the National Made in Italy Day, also features digital and multimedia tools, including an interactive totem and a virtual tour of the Museo dell’Occhiale.
Free admission, daily from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
