Riscritti e rimossi explores the theme of memory through the retrieval and reworking of unpublished documents from the former San Servolo asylum. The exhibition, curated by Carmelo Marabello and promoted by VIU – Venice International University and San Servolo srl, presents the work of the artistic duo Zeroscena (Elisa La Boria and Luka Bagnoli) who, during archival research, discovered over two hundred autographed documents dating back to the early decades of the twentieth century. These are mainly never-sent letters, serving as intimate testimonies from patients that had never been cataloged until now.
Zeroscena reworks these materials through an artistic process that combines graphic design, photography, and writing, creating new connections between the words extracted from the documents and the archival portraits. The result is a visual and poetic work that brings memory and oblivion into dialogue, bridging historical research and artistic experimentation.

On Friday, February 21, prior to the exhibition’s inauguration, it will be possible to visit the Asylum Museum from 4:00 pm.
