Near the southern end of the Grand Canal, on the side of the Basilica della Salute, is a majestic building facing the waters: Palazzo Genovese, built in the late 1800s around one of the cloisters of the adjacent Monastery of Saint Gregory, itself dating back to the mid-1100s. The design by architect Trigomi Mattei is inspired by Venetian Gothic and makes use of brick and Istria marble in a red-and-white pattern that follows traditional architecture. The many windows opening on the Grand Canal create fascinating light games throughout the day. Sina Centurion Palaze is a luxury five-star hotel with fifty rooms and suites.
