Consisting of human-sized abstract, organic sculptures, the installation by Emirati conceptual artist Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim (1962) interprets bodies in their inseparable relationship with the earth. Grouped by colour, the sculptures incorporate natural materials such as coffee, tobacco, and tea – their swinging motions hinting at the idea of corporal metamorphosis. The art has been inspired by the artist’s closeness with the natural environment of his native town, Khawr Fakkān in the Al Hajar mountain range, on the eastern coast of the Sharjah Emirate.
