At the heart of the project is the concept of ma, the “in-between space” that in Japanese culture refers to the living tension between two elements, a void inhabited by relationship. The Pavilion explores the dialogue between human and non-human, natural and artificial, reflecting on the role of artificial intelligence and its implications for the future. Architect Jun Aoki intervenes on the building itself, transforming it into an active part of the narrative: structural columns, canopy, terrace, and the large yew tree become actors in a suspended balance, where every fragment is a threshold. Two couples of artists complete the installation, envisioning for the Pavilion a future slightly out of sync with the present.
