The Pavilion aims to contribute to the international architectural discourse with a critical analysis of the relationship between military defense and spatial condition in Latvia. NATO membership marked a swift transition of national borders from unguarded administrative lines to heavily militarized and strategic frontiers. In the face of escalating geopolitical tensions and the expansion of fortifications along the borders with Russia and Belarus, the physical management of these territorial limits not only radically transforms architectural space, but also compels architecture to actively engage in shaping militarized zones, offering concrete responses to the needs of those living in close proximity to these areas.
