Lebanon is facing severe environmental degradation caused by decades of war, unchecked urbanization, and political instability. Armed conflicts and deliberate acts of ecocide, such as the use of white phosphorus in 2024, have contaminated soil and water, displaced entire communities, and transformed once-fertile landscapes into barren, toxic wastelands. Framed as the fictional Ministry of Land Intelligens, the Pavilion urges architects to take an active role in preventing environmental destruction, inviting visitors to envision an alternative future where all living beings – both human and non-human – not only survive but also thrive.
