Inspired by the Strada Novissima conceived in 1980 by curator Paolo Portoghesi for the first Architecture Biennale, the Macedonian project focuses on the architecture of Skopje, presenting designs for the facades of ten Brutalist buildings along a conceptual street. The goal is to initiate a critical reflection on the ideas and visions embodied in this urban layer of the capital. Thanks to the unpublished contributions and reflections of a group of architects, urban planners, and researchers invited to reinterpret the Brutalist architecture of Skopje, the city’s built heritage transforms into an active resource of knowledge and a distinctive expression of modern architectural heritage.
