The Pavilion draws attention to Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate disasters – a country that, despite contributing less than 1% to global carbon emissions, suffers some of the most devastating consequences. Immersed in the humid Venetian climate, an installation made of Himalayan pink salt – a material symbolic of Pakistan’s geology and culture – undergoes constant transformation, crystallizing and dissolving in a continuous cycle. A suspended structure spans the space, evoking the asymmetry and inequalities inherent in the climate crisis. The metamorphosis of the salt becomes a powerful metaphor for both resilience and fragility, suggesting solutions rooted in local contexts and natural responses rather than uniform global approaches.
