The first official participation of Qatar is a two-part exhibition exploring how forms of hospitality are embodied in the architecture and urban landscapes of the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. At Palazzo Franchetti, drawings, models, and archives highlight interpretations of the oasis, city housing, community centres, mosques, museums, and gardens. At the Giardini, on the site of the future permanent pavilion, a bamboo structure designed by Yasmeen Lari showcases her humanitarian, social, cultural, and architectural development model.
