Rooted Transience explores the typology of musalla – temporary prayer spaces that can be set up anywhere they are needed – and the architectural opportunities arising from material practices based on transience and adaptability. The exhibition includes full-scale fragments of the Musalla Prize 2025-winning project, On Weaving, which celebrates the Saudi date palm by using its waste as building material. The fronds replace the traditional column-and-beam structure, while the fibers create a facade inspired by traditional weaving techniques, enveloping the entire space. The project thus becomes a meeting point between the architectural traditions of Islamic societies and modern design interpretations.
