Exploring the relationship between composition and decomposition, Serbia’s project focuses on circularity as a fundamental principle of architectural production. The concept of “unraveling,” inspired by the practice of knitting, connects to the historic invention of the Belgrade Hand (1963), the world’s first artificial bionic hand, a symbol of how technology and imagination can emerge from physical and creative gestures. The kinetic installation, made of wool threads intertwined by architects, designers, and engineers, evolves over the six months of the exhibition thanks to 150 solar-powered motors, revealing an architecture in transformation – one that challenges conventions and embraces sustainable, inclusive, and ever-evolving practices.
