Curiosity, the desire for knowledge, and the entrepreneurial spirit of the Venetian merchants form the foundation of a way of life that has characterized the entire history of the Serenissima, encompassing trade, business, diplomacy, and scientific and geographical knowledge. On the 700th anniversary of his death, Venice celebrates Marco Polo, one of its most illustrious citizens, whose adventure fully embodies the spirit of the city.
