The European Summit on Cultural Heritage is organized by Europa Nostra, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of its foundation, as part of the European Heritage Hub, European Cultural Heritage Agora and European Heritage Awards projects, co-financed by the European Union. A calendar of events in prestigious Venetian venues to debate the issues of citizenship and the sense of belonging, celebrate the winners of awards conferred by the European Commission to overcome the numerous challenges of today’s Europe. During the summit in which important guests, such as the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, the Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres, the Vice President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, take part in the presence or in connection, the winners of the European Heritage Awards/Europa Nostra Awards 2023. Cecilia Bartoli, president of Europa Nostra, presents the award to the Venice Gardens Foundation for the Royal Gardens of Venice, winner in the “Conservation and Reuse” category. A detail with great symbolic value to give concrete attention to sustainability issues is given by the reuse in the Redentore Garden, currently undergoing restoration, of the grassy surface that serves as a green carpet at the Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido for the awards ceremony.
