The ensemble offers a repertoire both cultured and popular, of music collected in various Middle Eastern countries including Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, the Balkan area and the very rich heritage of Roma music. Founded and directed by Maestro Fakhraddin Gafarov, the group uses traditional plucked string, wind, bow and percussion instruments. The musical research develops between East and West through meditation and dance, purity of sound and engaging rhythms. The melodies are dreamlike journeys to ancestral places of memory, pearls of simplicity and wisdom, just as the rhythm suggests “ancient rituals and sensual dances”.
