Where were we?

Elio and Co. on 11 December at the Toniolo in Mestre
by Davide Carbone

A sold-out concert in the company of a band that has changed its mind about retiring from the scene… good for us!

Fortunately, they reconsidered. Or simply adjusted their aim, after being slaughtered by questions such as ‘When are you getting back together?’ and ‘Didn’t you break up? And so, instead of showing off with smiles or catchphrases, attitudes that Elio e le Storie Tese are just not capable of adopting, here they are getting out of the way by organising a theatrical tour that will see them at the Toniolo Theatre in Mestre on 11 December, with a title of their own: Mi resta un solo dente e cerco di riavvitarlo. Healthy carriers of a simply disarming irony, Elio e le Storie Tese are first and foremost great musicians. If you have had the luck and the ‘courage’ to attend one of their concerts, you will not have failed to notice their mastery of first-rate musical technique, which throughout their career has allowed them to merrily range between different musical genres, often even within the same song.
