The Venice International Literature Festival, conceived and organized by Ca’ Foscari University, reaches its 18th edition this year. The event, scheduled from April 2 to April 5, will feature 26 authors from 19 different countries and will be spread across various venues in the city, including Auditorium Santa Margherita – Emanuele Severino, Fondazione Querini Stampalia, Teatro Goldoni, Centro Tedesco di Studi Veneziani, Fondazione dell’Albero d’Oro, Hotel Aquarius, and Fondaco dei Tedeschi.
Organized in collaboration with Fondazione di Venezia and the City of Venice, with the support of Marsilio and Fondazione Musei Civici and under the direction of Flavio Gregori, the Festival fosters conversations among authors from six continents, promoting dialogue between nations, cultures, and individuals, drawing inspiration from the major themes of our time, such as identity, racism, and the relationship between the individual and others, explored in various forms and cultural contexts.
Among this year’s guests are Asma Mhalla (Tunisia – France), Alexander Baunov (Russia), Esther Kinsky (Germany), Federica Manzon (Italy), Mathias Énard (France), and Tiziano Scarpa (Italy), to name a few. British-Pakistani writer Hanif Kureishi, who will join the opening day remotely, will receive the 2025 Incroci Musei Civici di Venezia Award. The Cesare De Michelis Award, promoted by Marsilio and, from this year, organized in synergy with the Frankfurt Book Fair, will be presented to Brazilian publisher and writer Luiz Schwarcz. Finally, the Incroci Giovani – Albero D’Oro Award, given to an author under 40 who has made an original contribution to contemporary literature, will go to French writer Pierre Adrian.
All Incroci events are free. Reservations open on March 18 at 12 pm.
This year, the voice of Noa will mark the preview of Incroci di Civiltà. On March 29 at 9 pm, her music – symbolizing peace and dialogue – will take center stage in a concert at Teatro Goldoni in Venice, organized in collaboration with Veneto Jazz. Noa will perform with a quartet featuring Gil Dor (guitar), Ruslan Sirota (piano), Omri Abramov (saxophone and EWI), and Daniel Dor (drums).
Tickets are available on Ticket One.
On Sunday, March 30, at 11.30 am, the artist will also be present at Palazzo Flangini, the headquarters of Fondazione di Venezia, for a public discussion on peace and dialogue among peoples, in conversation with Giovanni Dell’Olivo, General Director of Fondazione di Venezia.
