It passes through Sant’Elena, the islands of Vignole, Sant’Erasmo, San Francesco del Deserto, Burano, the islands of Mazzorbo, Madonna del Monte and San Giacomo in Paludo, and Murano. It arrives in Venice along the Cannaregio Canal to disembark in the Grand Canal and conclude the regatta at the end of the Grand Canal, precisely at the height of the Basilica della Salute, where medals and certificates of participation will be distributed from the appropriate piers. This is the itinerary of one of the city’s most anticipated events, the Vogalonga, a non-competitive regatta created in 1974 by a group of friends eager to bring to life an event that would draw attention to the problems related to wave motion and motorized water traffic, which had already been steadily increasing. It was an act of love for Venice and the water surrounding it, for its lagoon and islands, for rowing and its boats.
