Milton Nascimento’s farewell tour and a double concert with Richard Galliano and Hermeto Pascoal e grupo. Great jazz is the protagonist at Fenice Theatre in Venice thanks to the fourteenth edition of Venezia Jazz Festival, due June 23 to July 28. An excursus along the most well-established names of international jazz and the newest offers in a genre that never stops evolving. Concerts will take place at the Fenice’s Sale Apollinee as well as around town: Auditorium Lo Squero, Combo, Splendid Venice Hotel, and Laguna Libre.
The Festival will set off at Fenice Theatre on June 23 at 7:30pm with Vince Abbracciante, the rising accordion star who, together with his quartet, will show Italy a kind of music that is a jazz transposition of choro, marching band, tarantella, melodrama, baroque, Mediterranean music, and folk song.Milton Nascimento is a legend of Brazilian music. A celebrated singer-songwriter for the expressive potential he used in renovating the rich repertoire of his native country, he just turned 80 and boasts an extraordinary career started in the mid-1960s that saw him hybridizing Brazilian music with the Beatles and jazz. Nascimento will be in Venice on July 10 for a great party with a number of close-knit band of musicians, gathered around his undisputed talent. A great jazz night will take place on July 13 at 8pm with a double concert by Richard Galliano and Hermeto Pascoal e grupo & Friends. In the second half, Gabriele Mirabassi and others will also participate. This is a unique chance to see international jazz and Brazilian music stars that only rarely visit Italy, especially in such original formations.
